BERRY, Ronald rberry8247@aol.com "...After the USS Forrestal fire in July of 1967 I was transferred to VX-8 at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland. Went to FASU/NSA DaNang, Republic of Vietnam in 1968 and 1969 as a crewmember on a C-121 Super Connie. We flew at night broadcasting radio programs in Vietnamese which I had to listen to for 4 hours a night and didn't understand one word of it. I faithfully set up the transmitter and sent out our trailing wire antenna and started each color coded tape at the precise time. Since we had our own airplane, we found excuses to fly to Manila and Bangkok when we couldn't take DaNang any more. They were memorable R&R's. Found out recently that my best friend over there Ron Stancavage passed away in 1984. My only regret was not marrying a Wave at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland named Jean Smith. If you are out there and read this Jean, I hope your life was full and happy. I dearly hope to see you again in God's Eternity along with all the great guys of VX-8. May God bless all of us..."
