In l958 we switched to the P2V-5s, which were promptly taken from us and returned to the fleet due to the Lebanon crisis. By then we were designated VP-792, and the 5s were replaced by ancient 4s. I flew as an ordnanceman. We participated in many cruises. I was fortunate to have many experienced fellow crewman showing me the way. It was exciting times for a young man from the Mississippi Delta in his late teens and early twenties..." [21OCT99]

No combat flying but had fun flying down to the Gulf playing ASW with subs and shooting up sunken ships. Also doing night searchlite runs on barges on the Mississippi. Primarily ASW, Secondary minelaying. Lots of fun, good memories, great a/c. I hope this year is not the last for reunions, I haven't attended one yet...also served with VC-11, VW-1, and VP-6..."
