A BIT OF HISTORY: "...Sign that used to hang outside the AIO/SMO (Air Intelligence Office/Security Manager Office) and now sits in my collection of Navy stuff. I took this while preparing for the decommissioning in March of 1993, much to the chagrin of my Intel Officer :) If anyone knows when the sign was made, I'm interested in knowing as the artwork was older than most other shop signs and squadron patches I was used to seeing at the time..." Shark Attacks - The squadron would post crew accomplishments from various missions on a wall inside the hangar in during our 1991 Adak Deployment. Blue represented U.S., Red was Soviet, the cross represented a medi-vac flight, Yellow was other countries, igloo was for a flight above the artic circle, the life-ring was for a SAR mission, and the striped pole was for an actual Mark-on-Top the North Pole.
The yellow Jeep-mee's - Anyone who has ever been to PI will recognize this one. This was your first site upon walking out the front gate at NAS Cubi. It's Gordon Street in Alongapo, November 1989.
Masirah, Oman- This was the facility where we stayed, referred to as the 'Waddie'.
