UPDATE "...My Uncle, S1C Delbert S. Harris, was the VP-213 Bombardier aboard the PBM-3S BUNO: 48134 which crashed on 26 January 1944 at NAS Key West, Florida. 11 of 13 Shipmates perished when the aircraft after it hit a ammunition magazine mound while trying to land. The instrument panel flourescent lights failed while on a routine night convoy coverage flight and the pilot was beamed in by radio, but on the last landing leg he became completely lost and hit an ammunition mound. The two survivors were the Pilot LT(jg) Buren Charles HEROD (lacerations head and legs) and the Radioman ARM2 Marvin Jesse NORRIS..." Contributed by James Pinkey jwpondwalker@gmail.com [27DEC2012]
