A BIT OF HISTORY: "...VP-3 was disestablished on 11/1/55 at NAS Jacksonville, Florida, with a great number of the officers and men becoming the nucleus of the first Heavy Attack squadron VAH-1 which was established on that day. The CO of VAH-1 was CDR Paul Stevens and XO was CDR Charlie Frohne, both coming from Heavy Attack Composite squadron VC-8 NAS Sanford FL, where they had been flying AJ-1 Savages and P2V-2 and P2V-3C Neptunes. A handpicked group of VC-8 sailors, including me, accompanied the CO and XO to bring carrier experience to the new squadron. Early in 1956 the first A3D Skywarriors were delivered to VAH-1.
