A BIT OF HISTORY: "...Atomic history of the USS Kenneth Whiting (AV-14): I have a letter here that was my Dads. It is dated July 24, 1946. The ship was present for the Crossroads (Able and Baker Day) mission where two seperate atomic bombs were exploded, one above water and one below. The letter is a commendation to my father for outstanding efficiency during those shots. My Dads name was Earl Joseph Kelleher. The letter is signed as follows: John J.
