EUBANKS, AECS John N. Retired fesa@leading.net "...I was in other VP Squadrons through out my career. My first VP squadron was VP-23 from Jan. of 1961 until Feb of 1964. Then came my VP-49 tour after which I went to VP-30 and worked in maint control in NAS Patuxent River, Maryland until March of 1975 when I was the first and Senior Enlisted man to be assigned to the VP-30 det in NAS Jacksonville, Florida. The VP30 det/ NAS Jacksonville, Florida OIC was Commander Chuck Picard until the entire squadron eventually moved into the spaces of hangar 1000 that had been previously occupied by the decommissioned VW-4. n February of 1976 I received orders to VP-56 where I flew and was Line Division Chief until assigned to be the squadron Maintenance Chief where I continued through until returning early from a deployment to NAS Keflavik, Icelandreturning the VP-56 NAS Jacksonville, Florida Det. in March of 1978 until I retired on August of 1978..." Davis, Pat Thinnes (FE), Randy Jones "Jonesie", PPC "Ski" Malanowski, AO Harry Walters, LT Jennings, and Buck Buckingham. I also served with Crew 4 "Wild Wild West Show" with Rex Wilde, Tim Cook, Marc (I can't remember his last name but remember his kick boxing lesson at NSF Diego Garcia). I remember the huts in NSF Diego Garcia, liberty in the PI and VP Alley. Coming down from Marilyns number 1 c********er with Billy Bowman and Rex Wilde in a jeepney and we paid the driver 5 pesos to get us to the main gate in 5 minutes. What a ride. I have my mumbles qual, balut qual and Crew 12 initiation. I remember CDR West saying after the Chiefs run up Gordon. "You know Eubanks I was doing pretty well until some SOB stepped on my knuckels." Well I could go on forever drop me a line if you remember me. Also served with PMTC 81-84, VPU-1 84-89 and NADC 89-93. Best times of my life were spent in the PI and Andoya. YOOOOo Adreinne!
