AVALLONE, Jerry ava2l1@yahoo.com "...Greeting to all my former Shipmates: I was attached to VP-47 from 02Jan59-25Oct59 at NAS Alameda, California. We were flying P5M-2 (with a T tail) and a few -1s (straight vert.stab.). Althought my time was short I did enjoy flying the "boats" quite a bit. I even had the experince of working on the old MARS aircraft (JRM) getting 4 of them ready for sale and eventual flight to Canada for duty as fire fighters. That hull tank compartment could carry a lot of H2O. I have a son who is carrying on the family tradition as a Naval Aviator and currently instructing students in the Buckeye. He transferred from the P-3 community At NAS Whidbey Island, Washington approx. 2 years ago and is considered an excellent Aviator. Talk about PROUD...Regards..." [E-Mail Updated 01OCT99 | 22AUG98]
