ZJ-1 Aircrew

"The men of Airship Utility Squadron One (ZJ-1) beneath one of their aircraft, 15 June 1945. A wholly new kind of LTA unit, the squadron was commissioned in February 1944 to provide photographic, calibration, torpedo-recovery, and other utility services to the Atlantic Fleet. ZJ-1 flew nearly seven thousand hours in 1944-45 before the unit was decommissioned. By September 1945 most of the wartime program had already been dismantled. (Mrs. E. P. Moccia)..."
