HistoryA BIT OF HISTORY: "...VP-861 was a reserve squadron stationed NAS Norfolk, Virginia. It was called to active duty in Sept.1950, transitioned at NAS Corpus Christi, Texas. It was then was sent to NAS Jacksonville, Florida to become part of Fleet Air Wings, Atlantic Fleet. In Sept.1952 the Squadron was designated VP-18 [VP861 was returned to NARTU, NAS Norfolk, Virginia]. Through out their stays, both squadrons were homeported at NAS Jacksonville, Florida..."
