KIRSCH, Mike MKirschGov@aol.com "...I was recalled to active duty in the TAR program and was a plank-owner in VP-68 in November 1970 when they still flew SP2H's at NAF Washington, D.C.. Made the move to NAS Patuxent River, Maryland when the squadron transitioned to P-3A's in June 1971. Have many great memories of squadron trips to Lajes, NS Rota, Spain & NAS Bermuda. Had the best CPO in the world to work for, YNC Bill McDonald. He deeply influenced my decision to make the Navy a career. Also served in VAW-207 and COMRESPATWINGLANT at NAS Norfolk, Virginia. NAVRESPERSCEN NAS New Orleans, Louisiana, NAVMILPERSCOM and OPNAV in Washington. Transitioned to the surface Navy and spent nearly 3 years aboard USS Valdez (FF-1096) Newport, RI. Last tour of duty was at LANTREPCOMNAVSURFRESFOR in NAS Norfolk, Virginia. Retired in September 1990. Currently employed as regional construction/maintenance manager for an international company that owns funeral homes and cemeteries throughout the United States, Canada and United Kingdom. Would love to hear from any VP Shipmates..." [20NOV98]
