FLYNN, AW1 Brian Joseph "Flynnman" brian.j.flynn@us.army.mil "...Hello to all former and current reserve VP flight crews and maintainers. Seems we've come full circle from the days of Us and them (Reserve vs. Active) to integration into Active Duty Ops cylces to Reserve Patron almost disappearing. I enjoyed my experiences from VP-0810, VP-MAU, RATCEN, VP-92, and VP-64 ending at MOCC Atlantic. I sought out my own options at High Year Tenure and transferredred to PA Guard; out of the SS3 seat and into the pan so to speak. Currently slated for deployment (OIF) as S2 NCOIC, 1-111 IN/56 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, PA Guard. A special 'HOWGOZIT' to VP-64 CAC 11 who caused the ASWOC to come up on the range net because THEY HAD NEVER SEEN A TARGET SUITCASED SO EFFECTIVELY that they had to compliment us. Best regards..." HORSTICK, AW1 (NAC/AW) William horstick_w@hotmail.com "...I was a non-rate on the USS Midway (Dec 84 to Mar 86) went thought the AW pipe-line in 1987 and ended up at VP-9, NAS Moffett Field, California, for three years. I took orders to NAS Jacksonville, Florida, CPRW-11 ASWOC for one year. In 1990 I did a duty-swap of orders to ASWOC, NAS North Island, San Diego, California (May 91 to Feb 95). I separated in Feb 1994 and moved back to the San Francisco 'Bay Area' and joined TSC-887 for 9 months. I was picked up as an FTS (Full-Time Support) by VP-91, in October 1995 at what is now called Moffett 'Federal' Airfield. When VP-91 was shut down I was transferredred to VP-65 in NBVC NAS Point Mugu, California. I am now the acting OIC and Chief of FMP MOCC EPAC (Fleet Maritime Patrol, Mobile Operations Control Center, Eastern Pacific) also at NBVC NAS Point Mugu, California. I have made some great friends and have been around the world several times. I am sad to see the Orion Squadrons slowly disappear. My last VP command, VP-65 will be another piece of VP history come March 2005, when, it too, will be decommission! I, unfortunately, will retire at HYT with 20 years, in Feb 2006, as an E-6. Quotas for AWC this year (FY 2006) were ZERO... none! I'll be looking for work come Dec 2005!..." [E-Mail/BIO Updated 08JUL2005 | 05OCT98]

JARRETT, AXCS Chris Retired bigredwing@hotmail.com "...I started my career in SH-3D Helo's back in 1969 at NAS Quonset Point, Rhode Island and did three years with the squadron on the USS Intrepid. Then I finally got smart and as an AX2 moved up to P-3C's and VP-30 at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland. When the Squadron moved to NAS Jacksonville, Florida I worked the night shift at VP-30 until 1976 when I moved over to VP-45. As a VP-45 Pellican I was "homegrown" into a Flight Tech on Crew 1 and ultimately took over Crew 9 as the tech. My next move was to the ASWOC at NAS Jacksonville, Florida which was and still is a component of CPW-11. There I made AXC and ran the ASWOC Maintenance shop. With that experience I transferred overseas to ASWOC NAF Lajes, Azores, Portugal and had probably the best tour of my career. In 1986 I went to the Senior Enlisted Academy as an AXCS and my final duty station was at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland / St. Inigoes Maryland with SPAWAR supporting the TSC and MOCC programs. In 1989 I retired and I'm still at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland supporting SPAWAR and am employed by Eagan McAllister Associates. I look forward to hearing from any of my old Shipmates..." SNELL, Troy snelldog2004@yahoo.com "...I became a VP-17 White Lightning in 1988, where I spent the next six years doing WESPAC and NAS Adak, Alaska deployments. Just a fresh faced 18 year old from Ohio on the mean streets of Olongapo (the horror, the horror). NAS Adak, Alaska was cold, but I managed to meet an AE in my command that I later married. With NAS Adak, Alaska & PI closed, we switched deployments to NSF Diego Garcia, and Japan and soon after I divorced the afore mentioned AE. A boring tour at the TSC at NAS Barbers Point, Hawaii point followed. I became one of "Jerry's Kids" with VPU-2 where I had a blast for another five years. By now we had moved from NAS Barbers Point, Hawaii to MCAS/NAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, so I thought I'd try another TSC tour. It was as boring as before with the added bonus of all the Admiral's staff BS. I did manage to snag me an awesome little hula girl, whom I married, and puts up with me to this day. After 16 years in Hawaii, my streak was destined to come to an end and I now find myself basking in the paradise of NSA Bahrain. My year of exile will be over next month (Jul 05), and will be headed back to NAS Barbers Point, Hawaii to try a tour at the MOCC. Unless the Navy does something crazy, like make me a Chief, I'll retire out in 2006. Good times... good times..." [BIO/E-Mail Updated 27JUN2005 | BIO/E-Mail Updated 21FEB2003 | 03AUG98]
